Picture this: it’s Saturday afternoon, you’ve got two kids bouncing off the walls, and the family needs something fun. Let’s compare how much it costs for KTV, go-karting, maybe a round of golf, JB style versus SG style, without selling your kidney.

 KTV Night

  • In JB, a family of 4 going to LoudSpeaker KTV or Sing V during off-peak / morning hours can get by for around RM30 per person depending on membership, room type & promos. So for 4 people, maybe around RM120 (~S$13-S$40).

  • In Singapore, KTV for four will easily set you back S$80-120+, especially on weekends or evenings — plus drinks, snacks, and surcharges. Much pricier.

 Go-Karting

  • JB tracks like RUD Karting Medini, Angsana Go-Kart, etc., offer 10-minute sessions for approx RM40-RM55 (~S$12-16) for basic karts.

  • For four people, grand total ~ RM160-RM220 (~S$45-65).

  • In Singapore, a 10-min karting session per person may cost S$30-45+ depending on track and speed. Four people? Easily S$120-180+.

But... it isn’t just about KTV nights or go-kart racing, it’s also a city packed with other exciting attractions and fun activities suitable for all ages.

Families can spend the day at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, a world-class theme park featuring thrilling rides, a water park, and themed hotels perfect for kids. Nature lovers can explore Johor Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in Malaysia, or enjoy a peaceful stroll at Hutan Bandar Recreational Park, a green oasis right in the city. Couples often head to Danga Bay, a romantic waterfront spot with restaurants, carnival rides, and beautiful sunset views.

For culture enthusiasts, the Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque and Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple showcase the city’s rich heritage and architectural charm. Shoppers can lose track of time at mega malls like Mid Valley Southkey and Paradigm Mall JB, both offering international brands, local boutiques, and endless dining choices.

Meanwhile, singles and groups of friends might enjoy escape rooms, VR arcades, or the city’s vibrant café scene, where artisanal coffee meets Instagram-worthy interiors. Whether you’re a weekend visitor or planning to stay long term, JB’s attractions go far beyond the usual, offering affordable entertainment and memorable experiences for everyone.

If you’re ready to cross for some fun that won't break the bank, JB is like that secret coupon-code gem. Your wallet takes much less of a beating. Sure, you’ll need to factor in transport, checkpoint delays, maybe petrol, but overall, the savings on entertainment can be 40-70% (or more) compared to Singapore.

So, next time you find yourself eyeing that fancy karaoke room in Orchard or that go-kart track in Kranji, maybe think about packing up the family and head to JB.

Fun doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a COE.
